Improved Security for Your Transportation

CTU Training & the Securing of Cargo in Accordance with VDI 2700a

Safe handling in transportation begins long before your goods depart the factory gate.

Everyone involved in the organization process is responsible for ensuring a safe, smooth and legally compliant chain of operations.

At ILG, we deploy a holistic approach to transport – operating within a clearly defined set of parameters, we properly package and secure the cargo. This is where our commitment to quality begins.

It is for the clear advantages that benefit our customers that we invest in training our team to CTU Code and VDI 2700a standards.

What are CTU Code and VDI 2700a?

  • CTU Code (Code of Practice for Packing of Cargo Transport Units)
An internationally recognized standard for the safe packing of containers, swap bodies, and trailers in intermodal transportation (sea, road, and rail).
  • VDI 2700a
A German standard for securing cargo on road going vehicles, covering legal minimums, physical principles, and practical implementation.

Both regulations are employed to a single end: to transport safely with people, goods, and the environment in mind.

CTU Training: Safety Begins Inside the Container

The CTU Code is an internationally recognized set of regulations for the safe packing, stowage, and securing of containers and other cargo units. Any oversights in this area can severely impact safety, condition of the cargo, as well as entire supply chains.

During CTU training, our employees gain an in-depth understanding of how cargo is to be correctly distributed, secured, and documented. Particular attention is paid to assessing forces and stability, the proper use of load securing equipment, and the early identification of risks such as tipping hazards, pressure loads, or inadequate friction.
This ensures that cargo units are prepared in line with international best-practice, are fit for transportation, and can be dispatched safely.

Cargo Securing in Accordance with VDI 2700a: Standards for Road Transport

VDI 2700a training further expands expertise in securing cargo on road vehicles. Our employees focus solely on approved securing methods, on accurately calculating forces at play and securing goods accordingly, and on selecting the appropriate equipment.

CTU training, is a direct investment in our team. Deeper knowledge increases both safety and efficiency, while minimizing instances of damage incurred during loading operations.
